West Berkeley ADU

A 485 sq ft ADU in West Berkeley for a growing family that had run out of room: a home office, a kitchenette, a full bath, and a garage with a loft above for sleeping and lounging. The family stayed home through construction and needed the dust kept out, so we ran HEPA filtration the whole job and used negative and positive air pressure to control where the air went. The 14-foot cathedral ceiling took unusual framing and custom steel to meet the seismic requirements. Out back, a new deck with redwood planter boxes built up above it.
