This project’s main goal was to create an office workspace for a growing family that was quickly running out of room. This 485 sq ft addition featured a garage with “storage”: above well suited for sleeping and lounging, as well as the main office space and a full bathroom. One main challenge was doing construction around a family with very high demands around dust control. We ran HEPA filtration systems throughout the project, creating negative and positive air pressure to control air movement carefully. Another main challenge was doing a cathedral ceiling with some very unique framing details and custom metal fabrication required to satisfy the seismic demands of the 14’ high cathedral ceiling. Another very fun project was the new back deck with custom redwood planter boxes extending up above the deck.
